My new yr 06 in goa.. a late blog entry

Well that was the time when we were entering our final semester. Almost everybody in the hostel was busy completing their application packets. We had already cancelled a Goa trip coz everybody had some problem once the tickets were made.

Anyways, in mid December Kasat gives me a call asking me if I would b willing to come to Goa for 31st.. well I had no clue abt the term “new yr in goa” meant but was damn sure that it has to be wonderful. So I said a yes from my side. There were others around me who still had some reasons why not to come but whatever it was, in the end Banda, Jd n kothari agreed to come from the hostel. Sawaitul also confirmed that he would be willing to come and so did Bhaski and Varsha. Prabhu was not really sure till the last moment. Chokha was also expected to come. When kasat knew that it was a good number of people out there, he went ahead with finding an accomadation coz it was already late and was pretty difficult to get an accomadation in goa so late. We all were willing to come but no one had the patience to call and find a good and cheap accommodation in Goa. But Kasat was determined and he did it. So here was a total random grp from 4 different batches of UD going to Goa on 31st.

Jd, Prabhu, Bhaski, sawaitul and I went Mumbai to goa in bus. Kasat and Banda were suppose to come from Banglore and Varsha from solapur. So it were the people from Mumbai who reached Goa first on 31st morning. We reached our booked accomadation in the afternoon. (Till we dint find it, we were looking like fools carrring our luggage and asking about the address to which everybody just pointed straight.) Anyways, Kasat came with his other friend in the afternoon. He was still accepting business calls from customers and in the end had to but his cellphone off. I preferred to stay back waiting for him but others went ahead to roam around Goa. They went with the reason of finding which would be the best party in town that night( as if we were some celebrities). Anyways by the evening it was time to go and receive Banda and Varsha from the bus stop. Finally they also came and here we were, just ready to party had in Goa.

Everybody got ready for the evening. Since we had no mode of local transport, we divided ourselves into 2 so that we can find a rick that can take us to Baga beach. It was again a funny journey on how I reached Baga beach . ( since we got no rick, we decided to go by the local bus out there. It was jam back and there were these guys, of age not even 18, and they were telling us how they were roaming the entire India to party around and how they were fooled in Mumbai and stuff and stuff. I was wondering had I asked my parents in those days to send me on a India spree, would they have ever allowed me. !! )

Anyways we reached Baga Beach, Bought some beverages for the rest of the night and kept walking from Calunguate to Baga. It was a nice experience to see so many youngsters, both firangi and desi ,on the beach, all shacks full of partying people. There was music playing everywhere, and there were so many people everywhere but u never felt as if it was crowded and congested like Mumbai. Coz there was so much of space everywhere. The weather was amazing and finally we were tired of walking in the dark. There was still no clue of the other groups whereabouts as their cellphones were not working. So finally we found a spot, bought a Khatiya and settled down. We were damn hungry, but still kept waiting. Anyways we made our drinks and started and after a while the group with banda and varsha joined in. We started chatting and admiring the place. There were good things to see and also funny things like people highly drunk and dopped. One firangi even asked us if we had some hash !!!!.. anyways we were still thinking on which place to go and dance and then there was this shack called Zanji Bar (it had some VH1 night going on). So we decided to go there. But then while going there me and sawaitul were lost in the darkness and the crowd. Though we knew the destination, on reaching there we found no one. Still we started to dance and started getting the feel of the moment. Then the clock stuck 12, people started shouting. There was this beautiful firework on the Baga beach. This was the most beautiful one I had ever seen. It lasted for more than 20 minutes and wherever you see in the sky, it was just fireworks. It was very good. So in the while sawaitul and I found others and again we started dancing. Soon the rush started getting on our nerves and we decided to move out and lit a bonfire. Prabhu collected the used crates of beer and lit the fire. We started dancing around the fire.
It was so much fun, the shacks were providing us with the music. Slowly as we got tired, we just sat around the fire and started singing the great bollywood songs. Then people around started joining in and started sitting next to us. There were many type of people, couples, to be lovers, guys with broken hearts… they all had some song to sing. Well but we were neither of them, so we started singing GMD and guess what others around enjoyed it so much that they also started singing it. The singing session went for a long tme, many more joined in and left. Anyways since I was feeling hungry, swaitul and me went to some shacks to ask for food, and to my surprise, the people out there dint prefer surving Desi s !!!!!!!!!!!! Being in India they were more bothered about the firangis. Anyways somehow we managed to eat something and joined the fire. By 5 in the morning, we were done up with the things and planned to leave. Got a Cab and came back home.

Next day we got up I don’t rem when but then went to have some snacks and tea in the cafeteria nearby. There we decided out next course of action in Goa, to roam around in Panjim. So here we were in Panjim roaming around with beer cans in our hand and just clicking photo wherever possible. Panjim has some very beautiful colours on the building which you generally don’t see in other cities. Anyways, while roaming we just found a shop where we could hire bikes. We decided to give it a try and ended up hiring 4 bikes. Then the real fun in Goa started. We planned to Go to Miramar beach. On the way, Kothari slipped from the bike, so it took us a while to reach Miramar. Miramar was again a big beach but nowhere close to Baga. We took out our footballs and started playing there. Kasat kicked the ball thrice towards an oldi uncle. When he got really angry we decided to leave. On our way back we baught some T s and shorts. Prabhu left Goa that evening.

We wanted to party in some disc in the night, but ended up roaming the beautiful streets in the inside of Goa. It was so beautiful. Every now and then you could see a church decorated beautifully with lights and then there use to be complete darkness around. There were these white strong lasers of Club Cabana which really looked impressive. We even went on to see the club and later went to Anjuna Beach. Though dint really found anything worth doing there, so went back to Baga beach and met Pavan and his gang there. It was nice to relax out there on the beach like that. Kasat, Varsh, Pavan and Bhaski decided to go to Titos while others decided to stay there and njoy the place. Again we stayed there till 3 in the morning. On our way back, jd, kothari and me were sitting triple seatter on the bike and we forgot the way to our place. We had a scary time reaching home. But then it was again a nice day.

On the third day, people were so charged up that they got up 7 in the morning to leave for Baga Beach. Varsh left for Solapur and now it was only the guys gang which was left. I left a little late to reach Baga, but I couldn’t believe seeing baga so neat and clean in the morning. Then there was this attraction of being on the nude beach which slowly died down. We went inside water, it was fun to feel so good waves and comparably clean water. We all got tattooed, ate fruits and had sun baths. It was this time only that Bhaski got a call from IIM,A. We were all so happy and the fun just got doubled. The regular jokes kept us laughing all the while. Finally we went back, packed our bags, returned the bikes (that was also an interesting story), ate our food and left from Panjim.

If you see, it was a trip of only 2 nights and 3 days, but when I look back I remember each and every second that happened there at that time. We did so many things in that much time. We all promised each other that next year the same group will try and make it to goa, but it will never happened. Kasat got married, Banda went on to US for MS, Bhaski is busy with his IIM A, Varsha is still in US and me and JD have entered the job life, Prabhu is still completing his doc and kothari is still crazy about Goa in final year. I don’t think that such a trip would happen ever again. Though I am going again to Goa for new year 07 but this trip would be a very different. Not that I am not really fwd to some fun out there but I don’t think it will match to that level. But Jd and kothari from this trip would be joining me also. And this time it will be a new set of friends, more girls so a little more sophisticated types. Not that I am complaining, but yes I can compare it for sure.

A day with V5...

It was one of those random "Last month" days in college... I got up with Geo and Malshes call, who called me in the Canteen to have a "Time pass" Session. Wht a random idea... i dint knew wht it exactly meant.. but there was no harm in doing it also. So 10:30 in the morning, v (malshe, shukla, prathamesh, geo and me) were in the canteen for a TP session. We were chating something which was all useless but we were having real Fun... Malshe read out the horoscope for us and again it was useless as nothing was correct. So We decide to move one step Fwd... Lets watch a Art Excibition... only Geo n Malshe were interested in tht... but we coudnt oppose it also as there was no good movie running and the ones which were good were seen..

So we reached Jahangir Art Gallery and geo and malshe tried to get the mood by watching and interpreting the roadside art ourside the hall... And here we entered the Gallery... all we could interpret was some stupid work which was made with very fine details.. (expression on geo and Malshe's face was worth seeing) .. we made good fun of those paintin (something the girls were keepin away from in the start but later joined in)... after this we went to Sculpture Excibition.. they were good but atleast i was not in a mood to understand the dept of it.. so the only choice lett was to make fun of it (many will say wht a saddist i am ) but then it was fun to interpret these sculptures...

Then came the best part... the Terrace Art Gallery... the sun was bright and the terrace looked wonderful... so we had photo sesions there and sat in a beautiful tree shade which was all covered with some yellow flowers... a very beautiful ambience... so we sat there discussing on a pseudo Boy frenn for Malshe and how to go foolin abt people...

nxt we went to Mondys to have a lil sip of chill beer in a hot day and also to realise tht we were drinking when v there was a lecture going on ..... cant believe this... But mondys (as usual) was real fun... we talked n talked n came to know so much about each other. Though some hated bear, some hated the hot weather, some hated some other thing.. but we all enjoyed in those discussions there...

Though the day was quite random but it surely became one of the most memorable random day in the final month of my college life

Daman Tripp...

The convo is over, xams are comin and everybody(including us) is having so much fun together with almost everyone. But in this wave, we(the colaba public.. hehe) had so little time together... and so v decided; lets go out and have time together coz may b later it will b too late... and so we made a plan to Daman. KT had his factory there... and v(especially me) hardly care where we r goin until and unless it is away from the normal day today life...

So 15th morning, 4 of us (Banda, JD, Gawande and me) met KT and Atri at Malad station and the fun started. Thanks to KT for his wonderful AC car(indica) that made the journey really comfortable.

So Atri was in a high state and so was Banda (thou both of them were not drunk) and started takin everybodys case one by one. For the entire 3 hours (thou i was a lill sleepy), all i remember was everybody was just laughing, laughing and laughing. One of the funniest jokes were on Banda when he was wearing this funny cap and google and was lookin like a perfect R******. It was all fun.

The moment u enter Daman, all u see is advertisements of alcohol. There are more Alcohol stores in Daman than the PCO booths in mumbai. WE stopped in one restaurant for food and were shocked to discover the alcohol at almost half prizes...

anyways we continued our fun and were just laughin the entire time on something or the other. KT took us to his Factory from there and explained us how things happen. Banda was really impressed by the factory and was comparing it with his.

Well after a long search in tht hot sun, we finally got a cheap and cool place to spend the night. The hall v got was just like a blessing but it seems banda got tooo excited and spoiled the AC and v had to shift later to another room. But till that time v had a nice sleep and some pleasant Music and mangoess...

Here we were at the beach with beers in hand and all we were doin is discussions. Some hot ,some cold, most of them funnny.. but v had so much fun together. Everybody was lauhing ... but with them we knew so much more abt each other. The feeling of leaving each other was hard to believe but v were all planning on when all we can b together later. It was just great. A moment so hard to discribe.

Back in the room v had that alcohol night with music and TV... v kept laughing and were just discussing the best days of UD... the first yr.. the second yr... the third and final yr...those were the days... tht v lived and njoyed... which made us better frenns and better person.... though no one got high but still v had a great time together in that small room. I just wish i ever forget that night.

Nxt day, everybody got up late(nothin unusual) and the marufying session started again. We were suppose to go to another beach, so we checked out and went to KTs factory for some work. Started playin Confession and it was fun.. The beach we went to was awesome thou the water was dirty and so the beach.. but the wind and the company was just amazin.

While comin back.. Atri, Gawande , JD and Me took out our shirts and the entire from Daman to Mumbai we dint put on our shirts... KT was so tensed and that made us even more excited....

The Convocation Day

Well... So Friday was the submission day and Sunday was Convo... the day i was lookin so fwd to. Me and Banda had really worked hard for this day to happen nicely and smoothly, and v were always thinking on wht to keep and wht not to keep. How can i forget the way banda convinced people to attend the party, most of them had just no idea of wht v were plannin, most dint wanted to come coz v r organizing.. but finally it feels happy that 105 out of 130 people paid to come to the party...

Friday came with a relief of Project Submission and was followed by the Farewell ceremony. So finally Saturday was all v had to make the necessary arrangement for the Convo. It was hard for Banda to work under those conditions but he had to do it and i had to convince him to do it thou i felt bad abt it. But v did it, arranged Gowns, Karoke Music ,Xeroxes for songs and coupons, Liquor in just some hours of time and the Slideshow.... i dont understand but y do i work (better) only under extreme pressure

So the Day came.. could see everybody in the hostel goin to the Dhobiwala for ironing their clothes and the search for good lookin Shoes (people even asked me for my shoes... how dumb.. but it happens with excitement). Ya so here came KT and Maddy with their cars and all the goods were loaded in them. We reached the venue (Days Inn, Vashi) "ekdam tension free", thou banda was (a lil) tensed. Due to some time delays the arrangement of things and entry of guest started simultaneously, but who cares. Everyone started helping each other in the arrangement and within the span of some 30 min we were ready with our set up. By this time the juniors had started the Gown distribution, Video recording and photo shooting. Well, finally i started the funsction and the funky Certi's were distributed to each and everyone. People were in a mixed mood of fun and senti.

Well, i had worked the entire night on preparing a slideshow with as many photos of the 4 yrs of UD, covering as many people, as as possible. But when i reached there at the hotel, I was shocked to see that the Lappy I had arrannged dint had powerpoint presentation. It was really great on Rathi's part that he arranged another Laptop and yes we had that presentation. I could see all wet eyes after the presentation. It was a beautiful moment, everyone from the naughtiest to the topper of the class, all realized wht they have been thru and wht they will miss ( as Atri describes it.. it gave him the BEST and WORST feeling at the same time). Everyone classped, evryone had their eyes wet and wth this feeling we all sung 2 songs "yaroon" and "Pal", with karoke and lead singers...

this was followed by the First screening of the First Promo of Our First movie (which we.. george (director), JD , Rathi, Prathamesh (actors) and me (cameraman) are working on.. people could not believe it and everybody .. i repeat everybody clapped on seeing it. George could not control his emotions and he cried seeing his dream getting real and the support he is getting from his classmates. yes we all were happy for it

There were some awards given to people (i got the "most pakao person".. he he). this was followed by photo session and returning of gowns. Shet gave a beautiful speech for Vikram that made everyone in a totally diff mood. However, The DJ put his music and juniors made the drinks (so almost everybody started with the Tequila Shot)..

music, dance and drinks.. thts all u could see. I saw some ppl getin high and Atri was one of them. He was so high tht i took him outside and both of us got Senti. so he puked .. so did the others and thts how the night went away in a stroke.. it was shock to see so many ppl of my class drinkin.. and the best part were their dialogues after drinkin...

really..... the day was just amazing and i think i will always remember this as "one of the best days of my life"

Holiiii haiii

well this could be the most memorable holi till now... couldnt believe how events went ...

Well it all started with KTs place overnight stay plan a day before holi. Had to leave lab early :(. So went to KTs place, arranged for Beer, music and Ice. (even after bein so good in mgm, y r the B schools dont giv me a call :(. ) Anyways, so everybody collected at KTs place and then like a hindi movie ... came the dashing entry for our entertainer for the next 24 hrs.. APurva . He started speaking from the moment i went down and recieved him and stopped only when he was suppose to say "good bye punit". the only bad part was banda's bad health

The entire night we were just laughing at his jokes, dialogues and comments. The most favourites one were (in sluggish tone with sweeping tongue)"Apurva.. tu mujhe taunt mar raha haiiii" and "Aye Shilpi... tuje khelneka hai kya".. laughed the entire night (my cheeks were aching and at around 2:30 aunty came to ask us to make less noise)...slept at 4, rose up at 7:30 to laugh again.. had a amazing tea session before leaving for KTs farmhouse...

We reached the farm house, arranged ice, music system and here we are ready to njoy colours. with beer in one hand, water flowing thru the pipe, a water tub created in the soil (could call it "kichad").. here we were, dancing, singin, colouring others and havin beer. God it was great fun... i danced like anything (thou the feet hurts coz of those stones now.) .. played holi for some 2 hrs .. (n yes there was rain effect created by the pipe)..

well to sum it all... i just cant describe my day... but wrote a long blog to show its imp... here are some stills from the day party..

hostel day Speech

Respected dignitaries on the stage, all the professors and my dear hostelites..

"Suddenly out from home town,
With B.Tech Degree as our Crown,
We landed here,
here we lived,
here we matured,
here Spent best years of our life,
With best pals of mine,
here learned basics and felt happiness with sorrows,
People of Old hostel, To thee I bow"

It feels like yesterday when all of us came together as “freshers”, when we met each other, sat together for group studies a day before of the exam, it feels like yesterday when we had all the fun together. But its hard to believe that these yesterdays have lasted for 4 years ………….and soon will die out on us. Its hard for me to believe that today I am giving a speech as a final year student and that our life as undergraduates is coming to an end. I am sure that almost everyone of us in the final yr tech have something waiting for us for a better tom,but given a chance, I am sure, every one of us would like to relive these 4 years.

Words just fall short to describe my feelings for this hostel. We have got everything from it; friendship, affection, care, support , knowledge, maturity and what not I am sure that thses walls know our lifes better than us. We have done things, we would have never imagined doing before we came here and also things, which others could just do in their imagination. From mid night bday parties to burning mid night oil before exams, from all day sleep on holidays to full night games and laughter, from Dashera to Holi, from mosquitoes to bed bugs, from mess food to munna’s water …. We have seen it all here. I could exactly recall and experience the words of Harshal Chokha, when we all were in first yr, when he said “here We have undergone the biggest transition of our lives” This place has a culture of its own, where there is just no space for discrimination and ample space for love and unity. ( Here we have shared our deepest sorrows as well as the biggest achievements with friends). Though most of our juniors just have no idea about this culture as they have lived in the new hostel but I, along with everyone of us, have enjoyed this culture and lived every moment of it. We have lived here more like a family and I really feel proud to belong to it. Its been the hostelites who are famous or can I call infamous for attending the maximum of lectures to having the best of leaser. Now when I look back, its so hard to imagine where I would have been if not here. There is so much to say and it will take another 8 years for me to describe my 4 years of life in Old hostel

I thank Prof Malshe for preserving this culture here and letting us all be a part of it. He as a person will be tough at times but really soft otherwise.( Can never forget those nights when Sir is on surprise visit to the hostel and everybody runs here and there just informing others to be prepared for it. Can never forget how his comments become even more popular than the dialogues of the most amazing movies). I would like to thank him for lending his hand whenever we required his help and sir, we request you for your support even when we are not a part of this hostel. How can I forget last year, when hostel day was on the verge of getting cancelled, that he became hope and support for us and yes, we were able to make an eventful festival under the leadership of our GS Shailesh Marwah.

As far as the achievements are concerned, the batch of final yr B tech could be called as the batch of achievers. People have got high paying jobs, top ranking universities, unmatchable GATE scores that too in third year, and still there is so much more to come. As far as extra curricular activities are concerened over the years we have excelled in both cultural and sports events.

I would like to thank all the professors, who have always lend us their helping hands, all my classmates or I would say my brothers and my juniors for being there during the highs and the lows. (I could never repay you all for your favours ) and guys keep the spirit of old hostel high.I would like to end up on an emotional note, In all I can only say…..

"We lived in the old hostel for 4 years
Enjoyed, cried had fun, shared tears,
We hostelites live here as a a family
with wings of UICT to fly freely
now, its time for us to leave
making this one of the best place for freshers to live"

Thank you

Hostel day 2006

Well yes.. it was the hostel day today.. and probably my last one.. well was pretty enthu about givin the speech on this day, and so prepared a nice speech by corrections from George and Banda and some inputs from rathi..

But thats not how the day started.. well we all went to the "E n A" trip to watch Flemingo's in Sewri. Man what a place it was.. I could hardly believe that such a place exists so close to the hostel.... amazing place with amazing scenary... so many flemingoes u can see there.. lying and flying... welll so it made my morning...

and then came the hostel, speech prep and open day. Well the best part of the day was the dance practise... in my entire life i have never learned any steps at this last moment. The dance prog was suppose to start at 5 but by 5:15 we were still seting steps for our dance and mind u, these steps were not tht easy...

Still, Had fun.. Delievered a nice speech ( did i mention that Malshe congratulated me for a nice speech), danced quite OK... So that was a day to remember...

But my four yrs in UD, i have seen that the quality of the funtech has been improving (thou there were not many changes this yr) and the quality of the hostel day has been decreasing. My speech did not create that stir as Chokha's.. may b coz the audience was not there(as most of the audi was empty) or may b there r not many enthu juniors living in the hostel... i still remember i cheared for them when was in first yr... anyways thou tht response in the audi was good, I recieved many good comments later...
