My new yr 06 in goa.. a late blog entry

Well that was the time when we were entering our final semester. Almost everybody in the hostel was busy completing their application packets. We had already cancelled a Goa trip coz everybody had some problem once the tickets were made.
Anyways, in mid December Kasat gives me a call asking me if I would b willing to come to Goa for 31st.. well I had no clue abt the term “new yr in goa” meant but was damn sure that it has to be wonderful. So I said a yes from my side. There were others around me who still had some reasons why not to come but whatever it was, in the end Banda, Jd n kothari agreed to come from the hostel. Sawaitul also confirmed that he would be willing to come and so did Bhaski and Varsha. Prabhu was not really sure till the last moment. Chokha was also expected to come. When kasat knew that it was a good number of people out there, he went ahead with finding an accomadation coz it was already late and was pretty difficult to get an accomadation in goa so late. We all were willing to come but no one had the patience to call and find a good and cheap accommodation in Goa. But Kasat was determined and he did it. So here was a total random grp from 4 different batches of UD going to Goa on 31st.
Jd, Prabhu, Bhaski, sawaitul and I went Mumbai to goa in bus. Kasat and Banda were suppose to come from Banglore and Varsha from solapur. So it were the people from Mumbai who reached Goa first on 31st morning. We reached our booked accomadation in the afternoon. (Till we dint find it, we were looking like fools carrring our luggage and asking about the address to which everybody just pointed straight.) Anyways, Kasat came with his other friend in the afternoon. He was still accepting business calls from customers and in the end had to but his cellphone off. I preferred to stay back waiting for him but others went ahead to roam around Goa. They went with the reason of finding which would be the best party in town that night( as if we were some celebrities). Anyways by the evening it was time to go and receive Banda and Varsha from the bus stop. Finally they also came and here we were, just ready to party had in Goa.
Everybody got ready for the evening. Since we had no mode of local transport, we divided ourselves into 2 so that we can find a rick that can take us to Baga beach. It was again a funny journey on how I reached Baga beach . ( since we got no rick, we decided to go by the local bus out there. It was jam back and there were these guys, of age not even 18, and they were telling us how they were roaming the entire India to party around and how they were fooled in Mumbai and stuff and stuff. I was wondering had I asked my parents in those days to send me on a India spree, would they have ever allowed me. !! )
Anyways we reached Baga Beach, Bought some beverages for the rest of the night and kept walking from Calunguate to Baga. It was a nice experience to see so many youngsters, both firangi and desi ,on the beach, all shacks full of partying people. There was music playing everywhere, and there were so many people everywhere but u never felt as if it was crowded and congested like Mumbai. Coz there was so much of space everywhere. The weather was amazing and finally we were tired of walking in the dark. There was still no clue of the other groups whereabouts as their cellphones were not working. So finally we found a spot, bought a Khatiya and settled down. We were damn hungry, but still kept waiting. Anyways we made our drinks and started and after a while the group with banda and varsha joined in. We started chatting and admiring the place. There were good things to see and also funny things like people highly drunk and dopped. One firangi even asked us if we had some hash !!!!.. anyways we were still thinking on which place to go and dance and then there was this shack called Zanji Bar (it had some VH1 night going on). So we decided to go there. But then while going there me and sawaitul were lost in the darkness and the crowd. Though we knew the destination, on reaching there we found no one. Still we started to dance and started getting the feel of the moment. Then the clock stuck 12, people started shouting. There was this beautiful firework on the Baga beach. This was the most beautiful one I had ever seen. It lasted for more than 20 minutes and wherever you see in the sky, it was just fireworks. It was very good. So in the while sawaitul and I found others and again we started dancing. Soon the rush started getting on our nerves and we decided to move out and lit a bonfire. Prabhu collected the used crates of beer and lit the fire. We started dancing around the fire.
It was so much fun, the shacks were providing us with the music. Slowly as we got tired, we just sat around the fire and started singing the great bollywood songs. Then people around started joining in and started sitting next to us. There were many type of people, couples, to be lovers, guys with broken hearts… they all had some song to sing. Well but we were neither of them, so we started singing GMD and guess what others around enjoyed it so much that they also started singing it. The singing session went for a long tme, many more joined in and left. Anyways since I was feeling hungry, swaitul and me went to some shacks to ask for food, and to my surprise, the people out there dint prefer surving Desi s !!!!!!!!!!!! Being in India they were more bothered about the firangis. Anyways somehow we managed to eat something and joined the fire. By 5 in the morning, we were done up with the things and planned to leave. Got a Cab and came back home.
Next day we got up I don’t rem when but then went to have some snacks and tea in the cafeteria nearby. There we decided out next course of action in Goa, to roam around in Panjim. So here we were in Panjim roaming around with beer cans in our hand and just clicking photo wherever possible. Panjim has some very beautiful colours on the building which you generally don’t see in other cities. Anyways, while roaming we just found a shop where we could hire bikes. We decided to give it a try and ended up hiring 4 bikes. Then the real fun in Goa started. We planned to Go to Miramar beach. On the way, Kothari slipped from the bike, so it took us a while to reach Miramar. Miramar was again a big beach but nowhere close to Baga. We took out our footballs and started playing there. Kasat kicked the ball thrice towards an oldi uncle. When he got really angry we decided to leave. On our way back we baught some T s and shorts. Prabhu left Goa that evening.
We wanted to party in some disc in the night, but ended up roaming the beautiful streets in the inside of Goa. It was so beautiful. Every now and then you could see a church decorated beautifully with lights and then there use to be complete darkness around. There were these white strong lasers of Club Cabana which really looked impressive. We even went on to see the club and later went to Anjuna Beach. Though dint really found anything worth doing there, so went back to Baga beach and met Pavan and his gang there. It was nice to relax out there on the beach like that. Kasat, Varsh, Pavan and Bhaski decided to go to Titos while others decided to stay there and njoy the place. Again we stayed there till 3 in the morning. On our way back, jd, kothari and me were sitting triple seatter on the bike and we forgot the way to our place. We had a scary time reaching home. But then it was again a nice day.
On the third day, people were so charged up that they got up 7 in the morning to leave for Baga Beach. Varsh left for Solapur and now it was only the guys gang which was left. I left a little late to reach Baga, but I couldn’t believe seeing baga so neat and clean in the morning. Then there was this attraction of being on the nude beach which slowly died down. We went inside water, it was fun to feel so good waves and comparably clean water. We all got tattooed, ate fruits and had sun baths. It was this time only that Bhaski got a call from IIM,A. We were all so happy and the fun just got doubled. The regular jokes kept us laughing all the while. Finally we went back, packed our bags, returned the bikes (that was also an interesting story), ate our food and left from Panjim.
If you see, it was a trip of only 2 nights and 3 days, but when I look back I remember each and every second that happened there at that time. We did so many things in that much time. We all promised each other that next year the same group will try and make it to goa, but it will never happened. Kasat got married, Banda went on to US for MS, Bhaski is busy with his IIM A, Varsha is still in US and me and JD have entered the job life, Prabhu is still completing his doc and kothari is still crazy about Goa in final year. I don’t think that such a trip would happen ever again. Though I am going again to Goa for new year 07 but this trip would be a very different. Not that I am not really fwd to some fun out there but I don’t think it will match to that level. But Jd and kothari from this trip would be joining me also. And this time it will be a new set of friends, more girls so a little more sophisticated types. Not that I am complaining, but yes I can compare it for sure.
